VTT G8X Rear Drag Brake Conversion Kit with Parking Brake
The VTT G8X Rear Drag Brake Conversion replaces the factory rear calipers and rotors with a compact package designed to provide clearance for compatible 17-inch rear drag wheels. Genuine BMW calipers retain the electronic parking-brake function, while Wilwood Spec 37 HD rotors reduce rotating and unsprung mass.
Kit Contents
- Two Wilwood Spec 37 HD rear rotors
- Two genuine BMW rear calipers with parking-brake functionality
- New heavy-duty brake pads
- Vehicle-specific brackets
- Mounting bolts, adapter fittings, and required conversion hardware
Measured Weight Reduction
- Factory calipers with pads: 15.5 lb each
- Conversion calipers with pads: 11.1 lb each
- Caliper reduction: 8.8 lb per vehicle
- Factory rotors: 18.3 lb each
- VTT/Wilwood rotors: 9.5 lb each
- Rotor reduction: 17.6 lb per vehicle
- Total measured reduction: 26.4 lb of combined rotating and unsprung mass
Wheel-Clearance Notice
The conversion bolts to the specified chassis, but VTT cannot guarantee clearance with every 17-inch wheel, offset, barrel profile, or tire combination. Confirm clearance before driving and allow for adequate running clearance under load.
Installation Requirements
The factory rear dust shields must be removed. This modification is reversible. Brake-system work must be completed by a qualified installer, followed by proper bleeding, parking-brake verification, and a complete clearance and function inspection.
