VTT Spline Lock Crank-Hub Puller
Remove an installed VTT Spline Lock hub with a tool designed specifically for the job. Once the hub has formed matching splines in the crankshaft, a conventional puller may not grip or support it correctly.

Select the puller that matches the installed hub and engine.
Service Procedure
Follow the VTT removal procedure and support the tool squarely while extracting the hub. After removal, inspect the crankshaft, hub, and formed splines carefully.
Reassembly
When reinstalling a serviceable Spline Lock hub, align the hub with the existing formed splines. Always use a new crank bolt and follow the current BMW/VTT torque-angle and stretch procedure for the specific engine.
