VTT N54 Crank Bolt Capture
Add mechanical retention to the BMW N54 crank bolt with a capture that fully surrounds the bolt head and connects it to the damper hardware.
Construction
- Billet aircraft-grade aluminum
- Black anodized finish
- Approximately 1.3 oz for minimal rotating mass
Purpose and Limitations
The capture is designed to help prevent the crank bolt from backing out. It is not a complete remedy for every possible crank-hub failure mode and does not replace proper crank-bolt installation or inspection.
Installation Note
In a small number of installations, the capture holes may not align with the crank bolt and damper bolts. Correct alignment may require additional approved bolt stretch within the proper installation procedure or a new crank bolt clocked to the required position. Installation should be completed by a technician familiar with BMW N54 crank-hub service.
